Using Technology to Support Learning

Fri, Mar 9, 2018, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM GMT-4
CETL Technology Lab -Teaching and Learning Complex (TLC), 27 Circular Road, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago Map

This workshop is part of the theme of the application of brain-based learning to tertiary education. Unlike the theory and methodology workshops, however, this one introduces technologies and their application in the classroom to promote student-engagement, ownership and success.
At this workshop you will be introduced to three free, easy-to-use online tools—Edpuzzle, GoSoapBox, and Kahoot!. Even more, you will be shown how to use them in innovative ways for engagement, motivation, teaching and assessment to enhance your classroom experience.
By the time you leave this workshop, you will have accounts and activities for each of these tools. Keep building your expertise at brain-based learning and let’s revolutionize learning together. Register for this workshop today and begin the new semester with a bang!
*Participants will receive a certificate of participation on the completion of the workshop.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Evaluate teaching and learning techniques for appropriateness based on the brain-based learning theory.
  2. Describe how brain-based learning can be applied in various classroom contexts—large class sizes, second language classes, and classes requiring differentiated learning.
  3. Discuss the role of technology in the brain-based classroom.
  4. Modify teaching strategies to create brain-based learning experiences.
  5. Develop educational plans built on the undergirding tenets of brain-based learning.
