Portfolio development is now a critical aspect of a lecturers’ evidence of professional development as well as teaching and learning growth in our 21st century teaching/learning environment. Universities worldwide are now requiring that all perspective faculty members present an e-portfolio as part of their application documentation for employment consideration.

This workshop is intended to provide an introduction to e-portfolio development for the biennial UWI/Guardian Life Teaching Awards, but also for the production of evidence faculty’s teaching and learning and professional development. Topics to be covered include:

  1. Defining a teaching portfolio
  2. The major components of a teaching portfolio
  3. The usefulness of the teaching portfolio
  4. Defining a teaching philosophy
  5. Identifying the major components of a teaching philosophy
  6. How does one prepare a teaching portfolio
  7. Creating an online portfolio
