An Orientation to Peer Observation
Peer observation among faculty is a valuable tool that can be used to promote reflective practice and improve teaching effectiveness. Through peer observation, faculty can share best practices, provide feedback, and offer support to one another. In addition, peer observation can help identify areas where faculty need to improve their teaching. Moreover, peer observation and feedback can engender professional discussion, collaboration, teamwork, coaching, peer support and potentially transformative interdisciplinary exchange of ideas.
This interactive webinar will provide participants with an overview of the UWI-STA Peer Observation and Feedback Framework and facilitate discussion about the peer review process.
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- examine the UWI-STA Peer Observation and Feedback Framework;
- identify characteristics of effective peer observation;
- explain the peer observation and feedback process;
- compare peer observation instruments;
- demonstrate effective feedback skills.
