The CETL’s Laugh Out Loud promises an enriching experience where faculty can enjoy humorous performances, actively participate and showcase their talents. The event aims to bolster a sense of community, camaraderie, and holistic well-being among faculty members by creating an environment that promotes laughter and artistic expression.

To this end, we are kindly seeking your team’s participation. Departments/Faculties will participate as teams in the following activities; spoken word, extempore and/or musical parody. The description of the categories is provided below:

Spoken Word: This category encompasses poems, excerpts that may be sampled or original works of art, which may be delivered verbally on stage (with or without a prompt). Participants in this category are required to deliver a verbal discourse on the stage for a duration of 2 minutes.

Extempore: Participants in this category are required to deliver an extempore piece on stage. This may be done as a solo or group of 3 – 5 persons, for a duration of 3-4 minutes.

Musical Parody: Participants in this category are required to perform a popular song using their own (re-written) lyrics for a duration of 3 minutes. This may be done as a solo or group/team of 3 – 5 persons.

Prizes will be awarded to the winners in each of the aforementioned categories. Additionally, specialty prizes will be awarded for team spirit and representation.

Should you and your team like to participate in any of the categories, we are kindly asking that you register your team by Thursday 20th November, 2023.
